Fall in AZ

Image
Oh, fall is here! With the weather changing, we felt it was time to plant a garden! Isn't that the weirdest thing ever? We'll be eating tomatoes at Christmas! Katelin and Kye had a great time going and picking out the plants and preparing the soil. The nursery said it would all grow...we hope it will! Don't you just love this pose of Kye? He's cute. Katelin wouldn't sit close to the garden because it was in the sun and it was too hot! (It was 95 degrees on Saturday).

Katelin's many faces

Image
I am posting these pictures for several reasons. Katelin actually let me comb AND curl her hair WITHOUT screaming! Oh my heavens, I had to take a picture. She wanted to wear my reading glasses... Lisa Loeb anyone? As soon as I took one picture, she was done and wasn't happy that I took the second two. It reminded me of how she has always been so particular about pictures. Mostly she doesn't want you to take her picture unless she is in the mood. Here are some of her several "moods" from today and the past two years.

Tempe Town Lake

Image
Kye had the day off today and so we headed out to Tempe Town Lake. We wanted to take advantage of the cooler weather-it's only in the low 90's. We had a grand ol' time.

Columbus Day

Image
In preschool last Thursday, we decorated sailor hats and spyglasses...looking for land. We found America! I have fun with this bunch-they teach me a lot. Katelin and KC playing with their spyglasses and hats.

A Moment for Josh

Image
So I found out today that my boyfriend, er...I mean, Josh Groban is FINALLY coming out with a Christmas album! It hits the shelves next Tuesday. (I don't think Kye will like Christmas music in October).

After Bath Crash

Do your children love to dance around in their underwear right after their bath? Mine do!

Bears

Image
Katelins favorite toy has always been stuffed teddy bears. She, of course, thinks they are real and today they all wanted to watch a show. Yes, they all have names and each name has an adjective and then the word "bear". For example: the one with a sweater on the chair is "Sweater Bear". She doesn't like to make naming too difficult. I love the imagination of children!

Daddy Daughter Campout

Image
Our ward had a daddy/daughter campout this weekend. Kye took Katelin and they had a great time. Katelin loves being outdoors and it was so nice to get out of the heat. Here are some pictures of their adventure together Katelin loves finding feathers. I put this one on because Katelin always takes pictures of herself. She is her mother's daughter (even if she doesn't look a thing like me)!

Visitors

Image
My mom and sister, Heidi came to visit us last weekend. The kids had fun with them here. KC especially loved it when Grandma brought him a Spiderman costume. (The kid has never seen any show about any superheros, but man are they so cool)!

Good Times

Yes, it's true. The baby will come around May 2nd. I found out one hour before the first day of my preschool started. So far, I haven't been too sick to keep me from my teacherly duties, but it does affect me in other ways. My poor husband has had to come home to applesauce and cottage cheese for dinner. Nothing sounds good to eat, ever. Last night at midnight, I finally ate a warm peanut butter and honey sandwich. That was very nice. However, I wake up almost every night around 3 0'clock and am starving! Who would have thought that something that is currently the size of a blueberry could make a person so unusual. We are very excited! Katelin is convinced that it is a girl and has already named her Keira. Don't even question her about it possibly being a boy. She says, "Don't talk about it being a boy, because babies don't change from a girl to a boy!"

These Kids

This boy is now potty trained! Katelin wanted me to put this silly picture of her up. I love my kids!

Congrats to Ross and Tiffani!

One of our greatest friends, Ross Buchanan, got married on Saturday to the coolest girl. It was awesome to be there to see it. (And yes, the wind was blowing like crazy! No wonder we left Cedar City ;)

Lizards in the House!!

Image
I am not kidding when I tell you that we are being invaded by lizards! The first one we saw was a couple of days ago in the washing machine. Katelin spotted the second lizard in her room today after church. We put "Lizzie" in a jar for an hour, then it was time to set her free. We went in the backyard, and Lizzie thought Katelin was her mother. She didn't want to leave Katelin and crawled up right under her chin and hung out there. In fact, Katelin thought she gone when we left to our friends house for dinner. During the prayer, Lizzie popped back out of Katelin's shirt! That was scarey! Katelin loved every minute of it. Katelin was pretty sad when we really let Lizzie go. Katelin wants to type something on this blog: KJHGFITFDSEWQ CLICK ON THESE PICTURES TO SEE THE LIZARD ON KATELIN UP CLOSE!

Class of 1999 Friends

Image
In high school we were great friends. Now we have added spouses and children to the fun, and have stayed great friends! Miraculously we were all in Utah last weekend and got together for good times. We probably won't see each other again until our ten year reunion.

Wolf Creek Resort-The Pool

Image
The Pettingill's go on a family trip every-other-year. This year we went to Wolf Creek, up by Pine View Lake. It was so fun. I can't decided if I liked it so much because I read Harry Potter 7 for two days straight -literally- or because of the fun times. Katelin, the dare-devil, would go down the huge yellow slide and yell "Madagascar" while she was coming out. I don't know why she said it, but it made us all laugh.

Wolf Creek Resort-The Lake

Image
Both my kids went tubing with me. Katelin tried falling asleep when we were being pulled too slow. KC was ready to get off right when we started. However, I still amazed he wanted to try it! Katelin loved swimming in the lake with her life jacket. KC loved eating cookies on the beach.

The kids loved playing in the grassy area/golf course right off of the patio. It was fun when it came time to run through the sprinklers.
