My Latest Project

When we moved into our new house I was so excited to re-do the master bedroom. We were going to buy some new furniture at Ikea but then I ran into Merrily. She told me to not buy new, but buy used and paint it. So, I researched KSL classifieds until I found what I wanted. I found a 5-piece bedroom set for $350! They are made with birch wood and the drawers are even dove-tailed. That means these were made well. There is a headboard, two night stands, a dresser, and a chest of drawers. I was excited! With the help of Merrily and Ed Gonzalez, we got them painted. Then I roughed them up a little with sand paper to give them a shabby-sheek look and put polyurethane on. I knew what colors I wanted the bed and walls. Then my trusty consultant, Merrily, went shopping with me and helped me pick out my mirror and some pillows. Merrily also told me what wall would look best as the blue accent wall and gave some great decorating ideas. I painted most of the bedroom by myself. Kye ca...

Katiebug: The Two-Wheeler!

Today was monumental! She did it! She has been pretty stubborn about not having her training wheels on. I just asked excitedly if she wanted to try it and she did. She insisted that I hold on under the seat and on the handle bar. We started down the road and I could feel she was doing it. I let go and pretended to hold on. Then while running beside her I showed her both my hands and she started to scream, "AH! Mom, I am doing it! I'M DOING IT!" Her face was glowing and the smile was so bright. After that she wouldn't let me help her at all because she knew how to ride all by herself. She was so excited to call her pa Nordfelt and prove him wrong! (He said she couldn't learn how to ride without training wheels-a motivational tool to get her to do it. It worked!)

My Provo Temple

Image
I went to Costco last week and there was the most beautiful display of framed temple pictures by Cultural Hall. However, I about tipped my cart over when I saw how much they cost. Instead of getting frustrated because I can't afford hundreds of dollars on a picture of the temple, I just went and took my own picture. I was pretty happy with this one. I painted a large frame that I had and now it essentially looks like this on my wall (minus my silly signature).
