And it feels like it's only been five minutes...underwater. I'm totally kidding. The anniversary happenings: Not only did my sister-in-law take our kids for 24 hours, they gave us two free dinners to the Scheinder's buffet up at the Zermatt in Midway. Hello deliciousness! It was a beautiful evening up in Midway. Then we headed home and watched Mall Cop. We are now dumber from watching that movie. I probably shouldn't even have mentioned it. Moving on... In the morning we rode our bikes up the Provo River Trail to Vivian Park, and then back down. It is an awesome 10 mile ride. I recommend to all. After the bike ride we headed to the the temple. It was a nice 24 hours without the kids. Thanks again Keysha and Chad!

Birthday/Father's Day

Image
I was born on Father's day 28 years ago. So it was a special treat to have my birthday land on that day again. I love my dad. Here is my family that came down and had lunch. It was nice. Katelin was motherly, Kanyon was taking steps and I was ready to pass out because I was so tired. It's been a long week.

My Ten-Year-Reunion!!

Image
Oh my has this been two busy weeks! My dear friend Nate Trayner was in dire need of some help. (Meaning= the poor thing is in this 4th year of med school pulling 80 hour weeks in the ER and not much had been done for planning the actual event and he wasn't getting help from his fellow class officers). So myself, Tristie, and Mark Schmidt stepped in and busted our butts getting ready for the big ten-year-reunion. We had 12 days to plan the entire program, get donations, call everyone about the reunion. I didn't sleep much and spent hours on the phone contacting businesses for donations to our prize drawing. I am happy to report that I collectively gathered over $800 from 30 businesses by myself. Mark Schmidt and I had a contest going on to see who could get the most and I smoked him!! We ended up selling over 170 tickets and actually made money on the event! That money will go into an account for the 20-year-reunion. Anyway the reunion was so fun!! It was so weird seeing people ...

Friend Birthday

Image
My old roommates came over to my house for a little get together and birthday party for me. It was so sweet of Lacey to bring a delicious chocolate cake and ice cream from Costco. It was nice to be with these ladies again. We are so glad Summer is back from Kentucky! Thanks again girls! Summer, Lacey, Marcae, Kelly, Terri, Tanelle

Look Ma, No Training Wheels!

Image
Not everything is negative with KC. He certainly has sweet moments. By the way, picking crab apples is helping and he swears he will "never pick the garden again." I won't hold my breath. KC can ride without training wheels. These pictures were taken almost a month ago. Kanyon cheering on KC from the front door. There he goes!

Yet Again...

Image
KC picked the garden. Again. Fourth time makes mom and dad furious. His thoughts on the matter when asked why he did it: "It's so,so fun. Don't you wish you didn't have a garden so I wouldn't pick it?" I got some advice from a my sisters Mother-in-law, who has been teaching special ed for years. She suggested to saturate him with the activity that he keeps doing until he is sick of it. So after he picked the garden, i made him pick all the leaves off of three bushes that need to be taken out, and he had to pick crab apples off of our tree until a huge bucket was half full. He was not happy when I made him do it and he cried. GOOD! However, when he was finished he said he had fun. We'll see how much fun he has tomorrow when I make him fill up the rest of the bucket. Maybe it will be even more fun when we empty the bucket and start over Tuesday... I am one ANGRY mother. (By the way, we have taken away his scooter, bike, and several super heroes. I told him ...

The True Confessions of KC Nordfelt

Image
We have a problem with our son. We are beside ourselves. This kid went out and picked all the leaves and killed 10 of the plants in our garden. I went and replaced them all the next morning. He had quite the talking to and was told he couldn't ride his bike or his four-wheeler if he did it again. (The two things he LOVES) That night, he did it again. I spanked his bare butt, hard. Now people, you would think that this would give someone the message. KC didn't get that message. KC doesn't "Get" messages and it is quite frustrating. KC, yet again, killed three plants in the garden last night. He knows he does wrong. This time I didn't spank, I cried and asked him to explain himself. He couldn't do it! He waits until no one is watching. He sneaks in the backyard and does it. We don't get it. This was our conversation today. I was very nice and sweet while asking. He doesn't answer if I talk to him while I am angry. Mom: "KC, why did you pick momm...

My Latest Project

Image
When we moved into our new house I was so excited to re-do the master bedroom. We were going to buy some new furniture at Ikea but then I ran into Merrily. She told me to not buy new, but buy used and paint it. So, I researched KSL classifieds until I found what I wanted. I found a 5-piece bedroom set for $350! They are made with birch wood and the drawers are even dove-tailed. That means these were made well. There is a headboard, two night stands, a dresser, and a chest of drawers. I was excited! With the help of Merrily and Ed Gonzalez, we got them painted. Then I roughed them up a little with sand paper to give them a shabby-sheek look and put polyurethane on. I knew what colors I wanted the bed and walls. Then my trusty consultant, Merrily, went shopping with me and helped me pick out my mirror and some pillows. Merrily also told me what wall would look best as the blue accent wall and gave some great decorating ideas. I painted most of the bedroom by myself. Kye ca...

Katiebug: The Two-Wheeler!

Image
Today was monumental! She did it! She has been pretty stubborn about not having her training wheels on. I just asked excitedly if she wanted to try it and she did. She insisted that I hold on under the seat and on the handle bar. We started down the road and I could feel she was doing it. I let go and pretended to hold on. Then while running beside her I showed her both my hands and she started to scream, "AH! Mom, I am doing it! I'M DOING IT!" Her face was glowing and the smile was so bright. After that she wouldn't let me help her at all because she knew how to ride all by herself. She was so excited to call her pa Nordfelt and prove him wrong! (He said she couldn't learn how to ride without training wheels-a motivational tool to get her to do it. It worked!)

My Provo Temple

Image
I went to Costco last week and there was the most beautiful display of framed temple pictures by Cultural Hall. However, I about tipped my cart over when I saw how much they cost. Instead of getting frustrated because I can't afford hundreds of dollars on a picture of the temple, I just went and took my own picture. I was pretty happy with this one. I painted a large frame that I had and now it essentially looks like this on my wall (minus my silly signature).

England Vacation

Image
I got home from England and threw myself into a huge project of refinishing furniture/painting rooms/organizing myself and so I completely and utterly copied (with her permission) my sister-in-laws post about England. It really saved me a lot of time. I figured I experienced all the same things and feelings, so what better way to post about it. She is also a much better writer. However, she did forget to mention that we went to the Mall of America in Minneapolis on our layover. It was awesome! Here is England through Keysha Peck's eyes: I became extremely overwhelmed when I uploaded the photos from my camera (300+); especially knowing Kelly has just as many pictures on her camera. Alas, I am trying to make some headway and recap about the best trip ever! (There are so many more pictures, and maybe I will post some more later....or maybe not.) My mom was the brains (and the wallet) behind the trip. She arranged all the tours ahead of time (she is quite the world traveler). We ...

Leaving for London

Image
I am leaving for London in less than 48 hours. My mother-in-law is taking my sister-in-law and myself for a girls trip. We invited my mom to come along so there would be four of us. It is going to be awesome. I cannot believe it! It still doesn't feel real. I don't know if I will ever feel ready. Anyhow, I went on Wikipedia and gave myself a little pre-tour of all the things we are going to see, and made a collage of some of them. This trip is not going to be relaxing, we will be touring all day everyday while we are there. Here is a sample of some of the things we will be seeing: Sunday: Arrive and head to hotel in Hyde Park, Monday: Leave 7:50 All day tour to Oxford, Cotswolds (where they filmed Harry Potter)and Stratford on Avon Tuesday: Leave 7:50 All day tour to Windsor Castle, Stonehenge & Bath Wednesday: Leave 7:50 All day tour of London, Buckingham Palace, Tower of London, West End, Harrods, etc. Thursday: Free day to go see anything we want Friday: we...

Firsts for Katelin

Image
I am so glad that I had the camera handy to snap this picture. It was right before we headed for church. Katelin loves to button up thing up. Anyway, for the first time yesterday she got up and bore her testimony in sacrament meeting all by herself. She put on her shoes, said she was going , and went. It was so sweet. She's a sweetheart. Then today she gave a book report/presentation at school. Her first! It was so cute. She will be camping during the Kindergarten program, so her teacher let her do it today. She did it on "Pinkalicious". She made and did everything by herself. (Everything but write "Pinkalicious" in cursive. She traced it with the paint brush though.) She is a natural! Maybe she'll follow in her mom and grandparents footsteps!

Katelin's Super Hero

He is always saving her from boredom, trouble, and being scared at night. Thanks KC.

Who is this?

Image
We found these pictures of Kye at his great grandpa's house. He is the same age as Kanyon in these pictures. I can't say it enough...I give birth to mini-Kye's. They are darn cute, so I don't mind too much! Kirtly and Kye, 1981 Kye, 1981
